Alumina Industrial Projects

A number of Alumina Industry Projects have been undertaken by the team at Alpha Concepts:

Fine Seed Wash Upgrade

A large Alumina Producer commissioned Alpha Concepts to work over a number of different phases of a project modifying the existing scroll discharge type drum filter to a fix cloth – reverse pulsing vacuum filtration system.

Departmental Project Procedure

Alpha Concepts’ developed a Project Management Procedure and facilitated training for a group of Process Engineers.

Precipitation Cyclone Projects

A number of projects have been actioned for a large Alumina Producer in the Precipitation Area of the process. The following is a list of key projects associated with Cyclone separation of Alumina Hydrate Slurry:

	Commission and optimise Precip. Row cyclone banks
	Feasibility design for Product Hydrate cyclones

Digestion Survey

A number of projects have been conducted in the Bauxite Digestion Process Area of a Large Alumina Producer.

	Piping survey detailing two and three dimension piping layouts.
	PID review and redline
	Flash Tank piping survey
	Flash Tank operating data analysis and determination of failure mode and frequency

Plant Simulation Project

The Plant simulation Project for an Alumina producer involved collecting plant flowsheet data, equipment downtime reasons and downtime frequency - duration data. The data was accumulated so that it could be added to a plant dynamic model to facilitate process debottleknecking project generation and associated process assessment.

Red Mud Flocculent Evaluation

Alpha Concepts assisted an Alumina producer to perform flocculent tests on neutralised red mud. The tests completed were of a laboratory and pilot scale and the associated results were transferred to the full scale operation.

In addition to flocculant evaluation, Ecotox testing was completed for the product supernatant stream.
